Briggs, Thelma Plum, Dan Sultan Lead Nominations for 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards

William P. Merrill once stated, “There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is.” In many ways, this quote links to the haunting, spiritual and soulful music of seventeen year old singer-songwriter Thelma Plum. An old soul with an emotional trembling vibrato akin to Tracey Chapman with the personal narrator’s heart of her hero Paul Kelly, Plum displays an authenticity and honesty beyond her years. Having already performed at numerous all ages venues, markets and cultural festivals around south-east Queensland, Thelma has captivated audiences and attracted industry interest with her songs of innocence and experience. Plum’s diverse cultural background of indigenous, Australian and Brazilian heritage has shaped her worldview and has provided her with much inspiration to draw from. Her latest release, the Monsters EP, is out now.
