An Upper Cayuga/Mohawk musician, Andy Mason has been making music for 20+ years. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with guitar, mandolin, drums, bass and harmonica in his arsenal, Andy plays most of the instruments on his recordings.
Getting his start in Toronto as an actor and musician, in the company of Gary Farmer, Graham Greene and Floyd Westerman, Andy was part of the first all Native music night in Toronto, The Native Expressions. Since then, his music has moved him from Toronto to Ottawa to B.C. and back. Andy sent us this song that at first grabs you as a catchy, toe-tapping folk song, but listen again to the lyrics for more – there’s a story that weaves pain, politics and passion.
