Ziibiwan continues his prolific output with a new track dedicated to the Standing Rock resistance movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Fresh from the release of his new Time Limits EP and from previewing his upcoming collab with Exquisite Ghost, Ziibiwan returns with “bodies in the river”—in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe‘s historic #NoDAPL resistance struggle.
The track washes in from a distant shore, building a wave of synth lines into a cascading hip-hop beat, a hypnotic, midnight instrumental soundtrack to the land protectors standing up for water, life, and justice in the face of continuous colonial aggression. But halfway through, something else happens: the beat drops out and gives way to a moonlit calm. New melodies float out and drift like smoke over the camp. You can almost hear the river breathing.
Keep your fires lit and your fists raised.
