Peterborough-based songstress Tara Williamson‘s latest work “Songs To Keep Us Warm” drops tomorrow, but for today, RPM exclusively has the full album available to stream. Lend your ears to Tara’s moving 9 track album to make your day.
Songs to Keep Us Warm is the anticipated full-length collection from poet and provocateur Tara Williamson, building on the clever songwriting and expressive vocals heard in her first two EPs, ndn summer and Lie Low. These new songs invoke intimacy in its many unbreakable, deathless forms, and remind us how love changes our voice.
Produced by Jim Bryson, the record also features a powerful collaboration with poet and storyteller Leanne Betasamosake Simpson and stunning contributions by Juno-Award nominated cellist Cris Derksen. The accompanying 12-page lyric booklet is an exemplary showcase of the visual art of internationally-celebrated artist Michael Dudeck.
These are songs that will take you somewhere – let them drive you through the night, all the way to Southern Manitoba, where at the crack of dawn, the sun will hit the snow and shatter. It’s -37.5 outside the window, where the landscape unfolds under clear, cold light, but don’t worry – Williamson leaves us with love’s greatest promise: “You will always be warm.”
