Queens of Indigenous Music Buffy Ste-Marie and Tanya Tagaq Unite for “You Got To Run (Spirit Of The Wind)”

Two of the biggest names in Indigenous music, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Tanya Tagaq join forces for an incredible new collaboration.

“You Got To Run (Spirit Of The Wind)” is the new collab from the undeniable queens of  NDN country: Buffy Sainte-Marie and Tanya Tagaq.

The song came about as part of a Polaris Music Prize initiative pairing past winners for a new recording. 2015 winner Buffy Sainte-Marie and 2014 winner Tanya Tagaq joined forces for the first time to record Buffy’s song “You Got To Run (Spirit Of The Wind)”.

Recorded last fall with Jon Levine and Howie Beck, the song was inspired by champion dogsled racer George Attla, who competed in the first-ever Iditarod dog sled race in 1973 and was the subject of the 1979 film, Spirit Of The Wind.

Hopefully this is the first of many more collaborations between these incredible artists.
